Spanking or any physical or verbal abuse to children "in their own best interest" is serious social crime and causes them irreparable long term damage that cumulatively results into huge social damage in terms of channelization of social creative energy. Family,  the first institution to breed unfreedoms and inequalities, is also first institution to instill corruption in children and the next is school. We, as children, feel  pain and agony being ill treated by parents and/or teachers but when we become parents and teachers (I am both), we not only do not juxtapose and  comprehend the sense of humiliation of the tender soul but transfer our pain and agony to our children and the sequence continues
