I was not present in DUTA meeting when some teacher removed his shirt on what ever pretext, that should not have happened. But I am surprised over making a big issue out of it. No one reacted so sharply rather many applauded when Saurav Ganguly removed and waved his shirt in excitement in a cricket match in front of camera. These are not the rules but exceptions and on the pretext of that prescribing a dress code is absolutely unethical. Teachers are, theoretically at least, "knowledgeable" people and they know how to dress, despite the fact many people, bereft of teaching temperament, after being rejected in all the competitive exams become teachers with the blessings of some God father owing to the established convention of job fixing and job fiefdom. I agree with Vinita, Sanam, Jayanti and Sonya that it would eventually fall down on women and that is how obscurantist patriarchy works. When ever thee is case of sexual harassment, all the custodians of "golden culture" come down on women's choice of dressing, as was evidenced in the general discourse in course of anti-rape protests in December 2012, as if women in Sari and burqa don't get harassed.
