The birth is not pre-ordained, it is  biological accident that follows upbringing and socialization that determines the consciousness and  to a large extent role within the social context but the rebel and alternative streams also emerge from the mainstream only. At 13-14 when I freed myself from the "sacred thread" the general refrain was, "ब्राह्मण को यह शोभा नहीं देता" my reply wold be  "इसमें मेरा क्या है? १०० मीटर उत्तर पैदा होता तो लोनिया होता, दक्षिण अहीर, पूरब धुनिया....". Today's Dalit and feminist assertion and scholarship is great leap forward from my student days. One question neo-Brahmanical dalits and Savarn reactionaries ask is that why there are so many Brahmans in communist movement. My response would   be only those can comprehend the social contradictions, who can access the intellectual resources, Kabirs/Rousseaus are exceptions. But now the conditions are changed and intellectual resources are accessible to everyone and composition of leadership is changing. Why the land movements of 19709s-80s under the leadership of CPI(ML) aroused anti-Dalit reactions by casteists private armies like Ranvir Sena. Why  Bathani Tola and Laxamanpur-Bathe..... Just see the reaction of casteists lumpens on such threads. The Dalit opponents of class politics undermine the fact that in India the oppressed castes and oppressed class overlap. Let us all join hands for our long battle of on-going class struggles. To me all the land movements, Dalit and Adivasi movements,,,, are ultimately parts of class-struggle and when historic moment arrives all will join hands for the revolutionary transformation of the society -- free from caste and class oppression. This is inevitable, if not in our time in our grand children's time.
