Thanks Alex Humphrey and Prashant Kumar Parmanu for your insightful comments. JS Mill a reluctant liberal democrat does not quash the paradigm of liberalism but reinforced its basic assumptions of individualism that considers individuals exist as individual contrary to the reality that individuals do not exist as isolated individuals "in and through" a society under certain social relations, which they enter into with other individuals in the process of social development, independent of their conscious will.Liberalism with Mill as its most influential spokesperson in 19th century, creates the illusion of individual freedom not in association with others but in separation from them. One does not see realization but limitation of freedom in another's freedom. Individual freedom in an unfree society is an illusion. A Rousseau stated around a century before Mill that to be free one has to free the society. Sorry for diversion with a long footnote. Essential attribute and task of Knowledge must be emancipation, does this education system prepare and empower the students for it?
