Chaitanya Sarthak I ENJOY TEACHING AND WISH TO MAKE IT MEANINGFUL. ITS NOT THE RIGOR OF SEMESTER BUT NUANCES THAT MAKE IT COUNTER PRODUCTIVE WITH SUBSTANTIVE LOSS OF TEACHING TIME BY AROUND 30 PERIODS IN 1ST SEM. WE USED TO HAVE AROUND 1OO CLASSES BEFORE THE WINTER BREAK. THIS TIME I HAD 70 CLASSES INCLUDING COUPLE OF EXTRA ONES TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSS OF TEACHING TIME, WHEN ON LEAVE. THERE IS A ABRUPT RUPTURE IN SCHOOL AND COLLEGE TEACHING(ITS DIFFERENT THING THAT MANY OF US REMAIN SCHOOL TEACHERS), STUDENTS NEED TIME TO ADJUST WITH AN UNKNOWN PEDAGOGY. THEY HAVE NO TIME FOR EXTRA-CURRICULAR AND STUDENT ACTIVISM AND THEY HAVE LESS CLASSES THAN BEFORE. SEM SYSTEM SEEKS TO CONTINUE WITH THE CBSE SCHEME TO PRODUCE PARROTS AND SHEEP, WHILE FYUP HAD SOUGHT TO PRODUCE DONKEYS. ITS NOT WE INDIANS, I HAVE FOUND THE US UNDERGRADS AS LEAST KNOWLEDGEABLE UNDERGRADS.
