Salutes of a Marxist to the last visionary Prime Minister of India, the last intellectual politician find the ruling class parties on his 125th anniversary in the 50th year of his death. I find his "An Autobiography" among few classic autobiographies that I have read and place it at par with "The Autobiography"(John Stuart Mill) and the Confessions (Rousseau). Had he not been a politician, would have been a bog author. He was the organic intellectual of the new class -- the nascent bourgeoisie. But, as Lenin has rightly written in the appendix of "State and Revolution" lamenting about not being able to complete some section of the book which he had left unfinished, "but participating in revolution is more important and pleasant than writing about it."
