Next evening I was tobe in his town and asked him to meet in the evening. husband and wife run a clinic-pathological lab-hharmacy and make lot of money(from indian standard) everyday . he said that they do not step out of their house out of fear of being kidnaped for ransome, notwithstanding to regular payment of protection money to a local mafia, who happens to be a member of Parliament also. I felt bad about miseries they have bought by making so much money. 'पंचम' के लिये "विपात्र" का नाट्य-रूपांतरण (१९८६ -८८ के दौरान कभी. इस दौर के अपने किसी लेखन की कोई प्रति नहीं है मेरे पास. लानत है ऐसी संरक्षण क्षमता पर. वह निंदा का अलग विषय है)करतेसमय जो आह्लादित-आनंद आया, भूलता ही नहीं. Khurshid Anwar, दोस्त मैंने उर्दू शायरी (या ईमानदारी से कहूँ तो कोई भी शायरी ज्यादा क्या ठीक-ठाक से कम भी नहीं पढ़ा है लेखक/दार्शनिक न्याय-अन्याय का सृजन नहीं करते. वे पहले से ही समाज में मौजूद होते हैं. दार्शनिक/लेखक उस न्याय-अन्याय पर अपनी प्रतिक्रया भर देते है.. लेकिन कैफी की सुनी और पढ़ी कई रचनाएं सुनते-पढते समय सर्वकालिक लगीं थीं. कुछ रचनाएं इतना छू जाती हैं कि एक बार पढ़ने/सुनने से ही याद रहती हैं. इस अर्थ में सभी रचनाएं समकालिक ओटी हैं. इन्ही समकालिक रचनाओं में कुछ सर्वकालिक हो जाती हैं. मैं भी कुछ इन्ही हालात में जे.एन.यू. पहुंचा था. इलाहाबद में डी.आई.आर. से छूटा था मीसा में वारंट था. भूमिगत ठिकाने के तलाश में इलाहाबाद के सीनियर डीपी त्रिपाठी को खोजते-खोजते जे.एन.यू. पहुंचा और ठिकाना मिल गया. गणित जनता था इसलिए रोजी-रोटी के लिये ज्यादा संघर्ष नहीं करना पड़ा. १९७७ में आपातकाल के बाद वश्वविद्यालय खुलने पर जर्मन भाषा में प्रवेश ले लिया. सालभर बाद लगा कि समाजविज्ञान पढ़ना चाहिए तो राजनीतिशास्त्र में दाखिला ले लिया. मृत-कम मीन्स छात्रवृत्ति के साथ मुफ्त कमरा हम जैसे गाँव के पहली पीढ़ी पढ़ाई करने वाले लोगों के लिये वरदान था. जे.एन.यू और स्वर्गीय घनश्याम मिश्र जिन्होंने मुझे पहली शरण दिया उसके बाद रमाशंकर सिंह (सुल्तानपुर) के कमरे में रहने लगा और वे कुछ दिनों के लिये घर जाकर कई महीनों में लौटे और मेरे पास सिंगिल सीटेड रूम था. तत्कालीन जनेवि समुदाय ने मुझे बाहरी होने का अनुभव नहीं होने दिया और प्रवेश लेने से १० महीने पहले ही मैं वहाँ के छात्र समुदाय का सदस्य था. सभी का आभार एक एक कर लिखने में सूची लंबी हो जायेगी इस लिये एक वारंटशुदा खानाबदोश को अपनत्व देने के लिये पूरे समुदाय का आभारी हूँ. जेएनयू के साथ मुझे अपने गाँव-देश की अनुभूति होती है.(30.09.2012)

Unfortunately the internal contradiction of ruling classes are projected as the national political contradiction to blunt the edge of the major contradictions. नहीं मित्र, हम-आप जैसे लोग न तो मौकापरस्त हैं न निकम्मे. पूंजीवाद में एलीनेटेड श्रम की अभिशप्तता तथा इतिहास की तेज रफ़्तार और शासक-वर्गों की वैचारिक पैंतरेबाजी के सही आंकलन की कमी एवं विक्सित पूंजीवादी देशों में वर्ग-चेतना की दयनीय दशा के जतल मकडजाल के चलते हम अभी किंकर्तव्यविमूढ़ हैं, मैं तो अनंत आशावादी हूँ और पोरी उम्मीद है की स्थितियां तेजी से बदलेंगी और यह मकडजाल भस्म हो जाएगा. जनवाद के रास्ते में सबसे बड़ी बाधा है, विशाल मध्यवर्ग. पूंजीवाद एक दोगली व्यवस्था है यह जो कहता है कभी नहें करता और जो करता है कभी नहीं कहता. यह चतुराई से अपनी कुछ privileges जो पहले सिर्फ शासकवर्गों को उपलब्ध थी उनमें से कुछ सुविधाएं यह मध्य वर्ग के साथ शेयर करता है और शिक्षित नटों-भांटों की एक बड़ी जमात खड़ा करता है जो जनवादी चेतना के प्रसार में सबसे बड़ा बाधक है.
