International Proletariat 17

Veil and seclusion of women have been unnatural unfreedoms imposed by patriarchy through its ideological apparatuses of hegemony and its organic intellectuals, particularly the clergy, who consecrate them and provide religious legitimacy. And the unfreedom cannot be a right. But freedom, if imposed, may backfire. These unfree creatures must be exposed to freedom and let them choose, it may take time but would be stable. Soviet Union tried to impose and export revolution and the catastrophic consequences are part of history. On such occasions, I am instantly  reminded of Simone de Beauvoir (Author of the Second Sex). In reply to a question, "When women are happy in traditional ways of life, why do you want to impose your views on them?", she said, "We don't seek to impose anything on anyone. They are happy with the way they are living because they don't know other ways of life. We just seek to expose them to other ways of life. And what can you do if someone can learn to derive some power even within the jail." If exposed to the grandeur of the outside world, some day the prisoner would feel the agony of unfreedom and strive for freedom. We have to attack the root and the root is patriarchy and its ideology gender.
