Janhastakshep: a campaign against fascist designs

Press release                                                                                     Date: 15th July, 2015

Harassment of human rights activist Teesta Setalvad

Janhastakshep expresses it condemnation and outrage at the brazen raid by CBI at the residence and office premises of noted human rights activist Teesta Setalvad yesterday in Mumbai. The reason why she is being harassed likewise are very obvious and directly linked to her efforts to fight for getting justice to the victims of post-Godhra pogrom that was presided over by the then Gujarat chief minister, Mr Narendra Modi.

It is a matter of shame that the government has stooped low to such an extent. The clear idea behind this attack on Ms Setalvad is to derail the ongoing court cases in which the leading lights of BJP are involved. It is noteworthy that final hearings in Zakia Jafri case begin from July 27, and the appeals in Naroda Patiya case involving BJP leaders Maya Kodnani and Babu Bajrangi were to be heard in the Gujarat High Court from today.

Janhastakshep calls upon all concerned citizens and human rights activists to come together to strongly resist  the fascistic attempts of the present NDA government at the center to stifle democratic and human rights of peace and justice loving citizens in the country.
