The ieology of race dates back to Aristotle the great grand ancestor of all the future ideologies od all kinds of inequalities, including gender. He constructed the ideology of race to justify slavery, the basis of Egyptian, Greek and Roaman "glories". With colonial plunder nd black hunting by Europeans and "the invention of the new land", slavery again became, by the mid 18th century, the basis of American, i.e. settlers economy after drying up of the indentured labor resources in Europe. To justify slavery the ideology of race was revived on Aristotleian  model. Please read the history of America, a popular istory text book in 1980s, by a historically duffer Winthrope, explained the 3/5 clause of American constitution as: 3 whites=5 blacks. The clause is about taxation and representaion on behalf of the slaves by their owners that one would have 3/5th representation and pay 3/5th tax on behalf of total number of slaves. The founders of American constitution had statue of liberty in one hand and the purse of slave trade in the other.
