International Proletariat 28

The vertical rise of American economy emerged during the first half of the 18th century with Virginia boom not based on slave labour but indentured labour from uprooted Europeans, particularly the expropriated peasantry and ruined artisans and craftsmen and not on the slave labor. The Africans had not yet conditioned to new environs and did not live longer and hence the slave labor would prove costlier. The indentured workers were not treated in any better way than slaves. Much has been written about that. It is only by 1950s when the slaves begun living longer and the news ill-treatment of workers of same color created scarcity of supply of labor from the mother countries, the  slave-labor became the basis of American economy and Race was constructed as an ideology to justify the most inhuman institution of slavery by Euro-American intellectuals. The ideological  indoctrination was and tragically is to a large extent, so strong that both, the opponents and the  supporters of slavery concurred on one point that they were slaves due to their own racial deficiencies. These racist prejudices are still found in many Americans.
