Democracy

The representative democracy that despite the claims of representing the people represents the interest of only capital, which is global in the sense that it is no more geocentric either in terms of source or investment, is a bastard system, it never does what it says and never says what it does. It allows freedom to thought and expression; to organize and protest as long as it does not substantially matter for the corporate plunder and accumulation jeopardizing the life of and on the earth. As soon as it begins to matter as in case of Quebec students, it comes in its true face by using "extra-ordinary" laws to deal with the "exceptional" situation by suspending the Constitutional rights and resorting to brute force and legal harassment. "patriotism is the last resort of scoundrels. PATRIOT of US made any dissent impossible. The horror stories of McCarthyism are well known. Scientists, the Rosenberg couple of Manhattan fame had to sit on 'sing-sing' chair despite protracted campaign by the leading intellectuals including Einstein. Einstein himself was spied upon by FBI. In India under UAPA and other such draconian "extra ordinary" laws many have lost lives and many languishing behind the bars. Dr. Vinayak Sen could get out of jail only after protracted campaigns world over in real and virtual spaces. It is to plead with the world's workers collective to organise themselves as class for itself. Peoples' democracy is the only solution.
