Defeat the fascist attack on human rights activists
Janhastakshep condemns
in strongest possible terms the necked fascist attack by RSS-BJP Central Govt. across
India in which a large number of civil liberties and democratic rights
activists were arrested in several operations across the country. Among those
arrested are trade union lawyer Sudha Bhardwaj, noted human rights activist of
PUDR (Peoples Union for Democratic Rights) Gautam Navlakha, revolutionary poet
Vara Vara Rao and other lawyers in Maharashtra fighting the cases of political
activists arrested under draconian laws like the UAPA. Among other sections of
CrPC all of them have been booked under UAPA and sedition law. The government
has used the fig leaf of the FIR lodged in the Bhima Koregaon violence case to
justify the arrests while the actual motive is to caste sheer terror among
democratic minded intelligentsia and political activists fighting for the
rights of oppressed in the country, which is very much part of the divisive
agenda of the Sangh Parivar. The entire case pertaining to the Bhima Koregaon
violence has been deliberately distorted and vitiated in order to protect the
actual perpetrators of violence.
By such draconian reign
of terror the ruling BJP led Sangh Parivar government has only lent further
belligerence to its deeply reactionary agenda whose prime targets are the
oppressed masses of India, the Dalits, the Muslims, human rights activists and
progressive intelligentsia fighting on the side of the people. This all out
attack on the right to dissent and protest must be condemned by all progressive
and democratic forces and individuals who should rally the broadest sections of
Indian people to oppose this onslaught prevent India from slipping into abyss
of total anarchy.
