These are comments on a post on religion and nationalism



Atheists speak out against religion as it has been the most efficient tool in the hands of ruling classes to maintain and perpetuate the hegemony. We do not seek to abolish the religion but those conditions that necessitate religion for the illusion of happiness. If people get real happiness, they would not need illusion and religion would wither away of its own. We do not criticize religion as such but its application in social division and fundamentalism. In India, if we talk about Hindu Communalism/fundamentalism, it is construed as we are talking against the religion that provides basis for such ideologies.

Hoxa lacked Marxist vision, he should not have banned religious practices but only their unsocial repercussion.  We have no problem if believers can arrive at an agreement on the nature and characteristics of the Super-natural power and stop shedding blood in the name of their varying versions of Him. Maximum bloodshed in the human history have taken place in the name of Religion. After loss of enemy of America in the form of communism, Bush and company invented Islamophobia as the new one and is closely followed by Indian agents of imperialist globalization, the Hindu fundamentalists.

Nationalism is biggest fraud and confusion played on people by modernity. England was a nation and so were the colonists and indentured laborer with the same color of the skin and nationality. No one knows what exactly is nation and anybody can be spokesperson of nation. The other day some one posted that "we (meaning America) have sold jets and missiles  to Muslim Brotherhood Government in Egypt". I asked him does he own an arms factory or Obama and the MIC of USA consulted you on the issue? Can he stop it? Similarly one Indian in Pak-bashing posted that "we" were forced to send army..... and so on. If 11 pepsi selling cricketers loose a match, newspaper will write, "Pakistan has trounced India", these boys become India. This confusion about who is America or who is India are deliberately designed to create confusion and illusion by the ideologues of the modern ruling classes, the capitalism.

Motive and circumstances are more important to understand the history. George W Bush, the only non-elected President was involved in judicial manipulation of Presidentship, Many companies had been retrenching workers prior to 9/11. To gain domestic legitimacy the ruling elite, the political class, invents a "national enemy". With the disintegration of Soviet Union owing to its own contradictions, USA lost the "national enemy". It invented an abstract enemy, the 'Islamic terrorism' as it knew the genealogy of fundamentalist groups it had created and armed in Afghanistan/Pakistan and elsewhere in West Asia, to fight the danger of communism, the erstwhile "national enemy". The steel dynamics provided by Bytor substantiates the "stage-managed". In India, whenever there is a crisis of legitimacy for the ruling political elite, there occurs some 'terrorist act' or 'threat' from across the the border and there is a war cry of jingoism. Anti-war individuals and groups are termed as anti-national by the bigots, "patriotism is the last resort of scoundrels".

There are 2 questions: one about rights another about socialist possibilities in present US. About the second question, you people living there are, supposedly, better equipped with the knowledge of the ground reality, I can make only a hunch. First question, I can answer. During Renascence itself with Machiavelli, the old basis of political authority and its theological basis of legitimacy through the grace of God was rejected and a new authority and new basis of legitimacy was urgently needed. Rousseau in the 18th century theorized peoples power and popular sovereignty that forced all the subsequent constitutions to begin their prelude by "We the people....." (Its different thing that we and the people are different, as the representative democracy is not the peoples' govt. only its illusion.) With French revolution and foundation of USA, the popular aspirations took a great leap and the bourgeois constitutions manipulated them by granting rights, for which people had waged protracted struggles.You do not get any thing for free but have to struggle for each inch of your rights. These rights are valid only as long as they do not matter. As soon as they begin to matter, constitutions have provisions to take them away. The provisions of extra-ordinary laws under exceptional conditions that are perennial. During the dark days of McCarthyism in the US, no one had any rights under the draconian laws like PATRIOT, anybody could be picked  up for being anti-national that is a communist or sympathizer and onus of proof was on the accused. We, in India to have many such laws. Emergency (1975-77) was a real fascism.  As far as the second question is, possibilities are there but look remote as yet.

इस पार तो जो है मालुम ही है

देखो उस पार नज़ारा क्या है

अनजाने के अन्वेषण में ही

जीवन का गतिविज्ञान रचा है

होता क्यों  मन डगमग तट की हिलकोरों से

कश्ती उतारो लो प्रेरणा इन मचलती लहरों से

करो पकड़ मजबूत पतवारों पर

हो जाओ सवार तम सागर के मंझधारों  पर

लिए हाथों में हाथ हम साथ जो होंगे

तूफानों से कश्ती चुटकी में निकाल लेंगे

निकलेंगे चीर कर जब तमसागर के तूफ़ान

उस पार दिखेगा जगमगाता एक नया बिहान

छोडनी होगी आदत मगर हिलकोरों से डरने की

जुटानी होगी हिम्मत अनजाने खतरों से लड़ने की.

क्षण-से-क्षण-तक

जाया हो चुकी ज़िदगी क्या लुफ्त उठाएगी

खो चुकी जो खुद को लुफ्त क्या खाक लायेगी

जीने और जीने के बीच है पल भर का फर्क 

जिंदा कौमों की ज़िंदगी मांगे हर पल का तर्क  

इसीलिये जीना है क्षण-से-क्षण-तक हरेक क्षण

गुनाह है जाया करना जीवन का एक भी कण

मांगेगी तारीख जब एक-एक पल का हिसाब 

खोलोगे जाया वक़्त के लिये कौन सी किताब?
