The presentations; panrel discussions and question-answer sessions were overtly-overtly dominated by identity politics. Identity is multilayered with the foundation of human identity, the species, which began to distinguish itself from animal kingdom by its ability to produce-reproduce/improvise its means of survival with the species-specific attribute "reason". The fractional identity politics based on one or the oher aspect of the biological accident of birth, e.g. region; ethnicity; religion; caste etc. practiced by various political forces/parties defy the contours of the basic human identity of reason and hence of humanity. My paper is, "Dynamics of the Hindutva Elctoral Politics with special referene to Northeast India".
I will write about the political memoirs of this conference in detail later, in this post I will share a tivial looking but disturbing experience. Dr. Bijen, having studied in Delhi University and JNU is Assistant Professor at Manipur University. We shared taxi from the university guest house to airport. He is in dilema to have a third child or not with the consideration of increasing Meitie population from the point of view of the state's etnic comosition.
